DESCRIPTION:Winter Solstice Firewalk\n \nOur firewalk has been set to coincide with the arrival of the Winter Solstice sun as it enters Capricorn at 16:27. \nThe start time for this event is subject to change if people find the time to too early. \nAn invitation to join us as we meditate on what the Solstice means for us. \nIn this darkest time of the year we celebrate the return of the Divine Child\, the Mabon\, the rebirth of the golden solstice Sun\, who will bring warmth\, light and life back to Earth again. The Wheel of the Year revolves beyond death and towards new light and new life. \nAll those that are attending are invited to bring offerings to the fire\, to bring evergreens and wreaths to decorate the area and to join in the celebration of community and fire. \nThe afternoon/evening will start with a coming together\, a guided meditation and space to write your prayers for the coming of the sun and the new year. \n  \n  \nPracticalities \nPlease dress warmly and bring a camping chair to sit on for around the fire. \nLocation –Woodland \nPlease wear appropriate clothing for a woodland environment and as we are in England please allow for the chance of a little rain. \nThere will be a woodland toilet for the ladies and trees for the men \nLeg wear – please ensure that either you can roll up your trousers or you are wearing appropriate leg wear. \nThings to bring – Torch\, Water to drink\, Offering for the fire \n  \nWinter Solstice\nThe Sun enters Capricorn. \nSilent night. Holy night. Make a special effort to clear this night of activities so that you can sit quietly and consciously experience the magically potent atmosphere of this\, the most important turning point of the Wheel of the Year – the timeless space between Death and Rebirth. This\, the longest night\, gives evidence that the encroaching powers of darkness have reached their peak and that the Sun has reached the end of its southerly progress. Wait and hope. It is into this barren\, timeless void\, when green life has\, for the most part\, withdrawn from the surface that life’s creative fires are reborn. The oak king lives. Imagine that the low lying Sun is kissing the green world awake so that over the months to come she will arise and follow him up into sky. \nExpress trust in life’s survival by bringing in ever-greens and encourage the new birth by decorating the space with candles\, baubles and tinsel\, anything that catches and reflects the light. Enjoy a feast of the fruits of last year’s labour but then let the past die and look forward. Listen to the stirrings within the deepest darkest recesses of your body that want to grow and show themselves in the light. Dream a new dream. Focus on the flames released by burning wood\, honouring the fires of life that animate all growing things.
